A rare car is about to drive into the spotlight and let it shine inside.

A one-of-a-kind 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR is being put up for auction at the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach event the weekend of April 18-20.

The car is one of 1,011 “King of the Road” cars that were built through a collaboration between Ford and Shelby American.

It started out as a Shelby GT500 from Ford’s factory, but was sent to Shelby’s Las Vegas facility for upgrades that included boosting its supercharged 5.4-liter V8 from 500 hp and 480 lb-ft to 540 hp and 510 lb-ft, which made it the most-powerful Mustang ever up until that time.

Only 328 examples share its Ebony Black and Satin Ebony racing stripe combination, but this car is also equipped with a feature that none of the others have.

Its roof is a fix panoramic glass pane that would become an option for the Mustang in 2009, but Ford Mustang archivist Kevin Martin told American Cars And Racing that this one was installed by Shelby. Ford would go on to sell only 4094 glass roof cars through 2014, but this is the only 2008 GT500KR with the feature.

The GT500KR was originally sold at a charity auction benefiting the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) for $550,000 and then auctioned again in 2015 for $203,500.

It has just 80 miles on the odometer today and Carroll Shelby’s signature on the dashboard. Barrett-Jackson doesn’t list a pre-auction estimate, but Hagerty says perfect examples of the model are worth $73,100, although that doesn’t take into account the uniqueness of this particular car.
