The Ram 1500 is getting an update early next year.

New Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis, who also runs Dodge, confirmed the mid-cycle redesign to The Detroit News.

The current-generation Ram 1500 was first launched in 2019. Ram continues to sell the previous model as a budget option called the 1500 Classic.

Prototypes of the updated trucks wearing camouflaging covers have been photographed being tested on public roads and it appears that most of the exterior work is at the front and rear end, while the cab remains pretty much the same.

This tracks with the 2025 Ram 1500 REV electric pickup that was revealed at the New York Auto Show, which is also based around the current body. It may offer a hint at some of the changes coming to the rest of the lineup, but surely has a few features meant to set it apart.

Kuniskis didn’t hint at any mechanical updates, but rumor has it that the new “Hurricane” turbocharged inline-six-cylinder that’s available in the Jeep Grand Wagoneer could find its way onto the Ram 1500’s options list.

The prototypes also had covers over their dashboards, which suggests there will be an interior overhaul. The Ram 1500 REV was shown with a passenger-side touchscreen infotainment system display borrowed from Jeep, which can play videos while a vehicle is in motion that can’t be seen from the driver’s seat.

Ram’s full-size truck line managed to beat Chevy’s for second place on the sales charts in 2019 and 2021, but settled back into its traditional third place position last year, with the Ford F-Series on top.
