Honda’s And Acura’s Future EVs To Use Tesla Charging Tech
Honda‘s future electric models will be equipped with Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) plug, allowing them to access Tesla’s Supercharger network.
Honda Motor Co. President and CEO Noriya Kaihara confirmed the news with Autoblog during the Monterey Car Week events.
It’s not a big surprise, as the upcoming Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX electric SUVs are both based on the General Motors Ultium electric vehicle platform and GM announced earlier this year that it would start using NACS in 2025.
“If you look at what’s so great about the Tesla Supercharger network, it’s the maintenance,” Jay Joseph, American Honda’s Vice President of Sustainability and Business Development added.

“They stay on top of it, they’ve got someone onsite monitoring the equipment, they’re monitoring it electronically and remotely, and they fix it – fast. That’s probably the most important thing.”
The NACS charging cable is smaller and lighter than the more common CCS and the Supercharger network is widely considered to be the most reliable.

Fisker, Rivian, Ford and Volvo/Polestar have all all also announced they are adopting NACS in the coming years, and that CCS-equipped models will be able to use the Supercharger network with adapters.
