Tesla Ranked Top U.S. Automaker On American Customer Satisfaction Index
American car buyers aren’t entirely satisfied with America’s automakers.
Toyota and Lexus have swept the top spots on the 2023 American Customer Satisfaction Index among mainstream and luxury brands, but not exclusively.
The report surveys owners on a range of factors related to vehicle ownership, from comfort and styling to to mobile apps and warranties.
The average scores for the categories were 79 and 81 on a 100-point scale, respectively.
Toyota led mainstream makes at 84, followed by Subaru, Honda and Mazda. Buick, Chevrolet and GMC all tied at 79 to top the domestic brands.

On the luxury side, Tesla tied Lexus with a score of 83, as Lexus dropped a point from the 2022 report and Tesla gained three.
Cadillac, which counts the Escalade SUV as its top-selling model and is aiming to go all-electric by 2030, ranked third with a score of 82.

Across the industry, consumers were happiest with the performance, comfort and safety of their vehicles, but gave fuel economy, factory warranty protection and in-car technology some of the lowest scores.

Several lower volume mainstream and luxury brands, including Lincoln, were grouped into an All Others category that earned a score of 76.
