Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin has signed a multi-year contract to remain with the team.

The 42-year-old has been at JGR for his entire NASCAR Cup Series career since his first entry at Kansas in 2005.

Since then, he’s won 50 of the 614 races he’s started and racked up three Daytona 500 wins, but has yet to take home a season title.

“Joe Gibbs Racing has been my home for almost 20 years now,” said Hamlin.

”My relationship with Joe (Gibbs), my team, and everyone at JGR means a lot to me. We have accomplished so much together over the years. I’m excited to finally announce this so we can put all our focus on chasing the championship.”

Hamlin has won two races so far in 2023 and sits fifth in the playoffs standings after the first post-season race at Darlington.

Hamlin won the first two-stages of the Cook Out Southern 500, but finished 25th after he had an issue with an apparent loose wheel and later got caught in a wreck with 38 laps to go.

It hasn’t been yet been officially confirmed, but Hamlin’s decision to stay with JGR almost certainly means that the 23XI Racing team he co-owns with Michael Jordan will renew its contract with Toyota, which is set to expire at the end of this season.
