No Joke: Tesla’s Yoke Now A $1,000 Option

Oh how the tables … uh, wheels have turned.
Two years after launching the updated Tesla Model S and Model Y in 2021 with an unusual yoke-style steering wheel, Tesla added a traditional round wheel this January as a no-cost option.
It later made the round wheel standard and started charging $250 for the yoke.
The price for the yoke has now been increased to $1,000, just days after Tesla reduced the base prices of the Model S and Model Y by several thousand dollars.

Interestingly, Tesla has not made the yoke available at all on the updated Model 3 that was revealed last week in China and Europe.

This despite the fact that it uses the same stalkless steering wheel and column setup as the Model S and Model X.

Tesla also reduced the price of its Full Self-Driving system from $15,000 to $12,000 and added the Autosteer on City Streets function that was previously part of a beta version and restricted to approved owners.
