Chip Ganassi Racing To Run 5 IndyCar Entries In 2024

Chip Ganassi Racing is celebrating the 2023 IndyCar championship by expanding.

The Honda-powered team has announced that it will be have five full-time entries in the series next season.

Along with 2023 driver’s champion Alex Palou, Scott Dixon, Marcus Armstrong and Linus Lundqvist, Ganassi will field a car for its development driver Kyffin Simpson.

Simpson finished 10th in this year’s Indy NXT series.

“We welcome Kyffin as a teammate to our INDYCAR program. He has been integrated into a Chip Ganassi Racing multi-year defined development program which now provides the opportunity at open-wheel’s highest level,” said Chip Ganassi Racing Managing Director Mike Hull.

“He has already tested an INDYCAR with more to follow as an INDY NXT graduate. In addition, he is already a proven winner in IMSA at the 12 Hours of Sebring in LMP2 and on an LMP2 global stage in the ASLM and ELMS series.”

Simpson will be joining the IndyCar series as it makes one of the biggest changes in years by adding hybrid power to its vehicles.

The new powertrains will increase baseline power from around 700 hp to 800 hp and will be able to provide an additional 100 hp in short bursts for push-to-pass capability.
