‘The World’s Most Beautiful Truck’ Is A 1940 Ford
Ford unveiled the redesigned 2024 F-150 at the Detroit Auto Show last week, but one of its old trucks took home a prize across the country.
A custom 1940 Ford pickup was named The World’s Most Beautiful Truck at the first annual Grand National Truck Show in Pomona, California.
The show is a new extension of the Grand National Roadster Show, which has been handing out the Most Beautiful Roadster and Al Slonaker Memorial Award for decades.
The light green Ford was built by South City Rod & Custom in Hayward, Calif. It features a lowered ride, a subtle 1.5-inch chop and louvers added to the hood and bed sides.

The fenders have been worked over, 1937 Ford taillights added and the bed lined in walnut.
Under the hood is a Smeding Performance 383 cubic-inch Chevy stroker V8 with old-school styling that puts out 450 hp, while the custom chassis features an independent front suspension and Wilwood disc brakes.
White wall tires, Cadillac hub caps along with a brown leather and fabric-trimmed interior round out its unique vintage style.
Owner Greg Tidwell was awarded a $12,500 prize and the inaugural World’s Most Beautiful Truck trophy.

Dates for next year’s truck show haven’t been announced yet, but the Grand National Roadster Show is scheduled for February 2-4 at the Fairplex in Pomona, California.
