The Tesla Cybertruck won’t be going to Plaid, but it might not have to.

Elon Musk has said there won’t be a version of the Cybertruck akin to the Model S and Model X Plaid versions, but it sounds like there will be one that’s plenty quick.

Musk commented on an X post that quoted him saying a Cybertruck Plaid isn’t in the works by noting that, “I just drove the performance Cybertruck and it kicks ass next-level.”

While the Model S and Model X come in Plaid trims, the sportiest versions of the Model 3 and Model Y are called Performance.

Musk has said that the first customer deliveries would happen before the end of this year, although it looks like they will miss the third quarter deadline he’d originally targeted.

An increasing number of Cybertrucks have been spotted being shipped across the country on haulers in recent weeks, however, along with several prototypes being tested on public roads.
