Custom Rivian Nirvana Is An Extreme Green Machine

The Rivian R1T is one of the most powerful and capable pickups ever built, which you might not know from its sleek and modern looks. But now you can get one that looks more the part.

Fort Lauderdale-based truck builder SoFlo Customs, which is known for its outrageous Jeep designs and Apocalypse 6×6 six-wheel trucks, has turned the R1T into the Nirvana. And it’s sure to turn heads.

The truck’s body has been rebuilt with jagged, Kevlar-coated panels that give it a literally edgy look, while a lifted suspension offers clearance for monstrous 38-inch tires.

SoFlo Customs owner Joe Ghattas told American Cars And Racing that he was impressed by the Rivian’s factory performance, but thought he could take things up a notch.

The 835 hp quad-motor drivetrain and computer-controlled air springs remain stock, but uniquely fabricated spindles and control arms were required to give the Nirvana its sky-high stance.

Ghattas said the toughest part was getting the suspension and bodywork to gel with all of the complex electronic systems the Rivian is equipped with, including a vast array of sensors for its electronic driver aids that needed to be incorporated.

“After about 50 tries, we finally got it to work without any dashboard lights turning on,” Ghattas said.

The first Nirvana has already been sold to a customer in Hawaii and orders for future trucks are available starting at $150,000, which is a little less than double the retail price for an R1T. And the market for this type of truck is probably bigger than you think it is.

SoFlo Customs has done more than 5,000 trucks over the past decade and currently turns out around 80 per month that range from relatively mild Wrangler updates to models like the $300,000 Ram 1500 TRX-based Juggernaut 6×6.
