NASCAR fans have a new way to watch its races … in the metaverse.

The racing series has teamed up with Xtadium to offer mixed-reality streams of its 2023 Playoffs races on Meta Quest headsets.

The races are posted 48 hours after they finish and can be viewed through the Meta Quest headset on up to eight virtual screens showing different angles that can be dragged and dropped to the viewer’s preferences.

“At NASCAR we are always looking for ways to experiment with new emerging technology to create unique and compelling experiences for our fans.” NASCAR Director of Web3 Mitch Rasmussen said in a press release.

“Mixed Reality represents a customizable and immersive experience for fans to connect with the sports and events they love most. We’re excited to work with YBVR to bring this vision to life for our race fans.”

The content is free to users and available through the Xtadium app, which has a variety of sports programming.

NASCAR also recently launched the NASCAR Classics streaming service, with more than 1,000 races in a conventional streaming format and new ones added in the days after they run.
