A Tesla Cybertruck Is Going Up For Auction — How Much Is It Worth?
Tesla reportedly has two million reservations for the Cybertruck, but there’s a way to jump the line.
The Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles is auctioning off one of the first trucks at its annual charity gala on October 7.
Tickets for the event start at $1,750 for a single seat and run up to $30,000 for a top table for the night, which will be hosted by Jay Leno.
A Petersen spokesperson told American Cars And Racing that the museum purchased the electric pickup itself. Proceeds will go toward the institutions educational initiatives.
The venue hosted a Tesla retrospective from last November through April that included a Cybertruck prototype and other vehicles.
Tesla hasn’t confirmed when Cybertruck deliveries will begin, but dozens of them have been seen being shipped around the country and tested on public roads in recent weeks, while some Tesla employees have posted images online of Cybertruck Launch Team apparel.
Given that its an early truck and the charitable nature of the auction, it’s likely to go for an astronomical price.

Similar auctions held by other automakers, like GM and Ford, often raise millions for milestone cars, like the first 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 that car dealer and NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick bought last year for $3.6 million.
Racing greats Chip Ganassi and Bobby Rahal will also be honored at the event.
