Silver Bullet 2.0 Aims To Be The Quickest Ford Mustang
Now this is a speedy steed.
Ford Mustang performance parts specialist has started a new project based on the 2024 Ford Mustang GT.
The outfit previously turned a 2018 Mustang into the quickest example of the pony car with a naturally aspirated engine running on pump gas, modifying it with a host of equipment that allowed it to do a quarter-mile pass in 9.76 seconds at 143 mph.
It later added a supercharger and got that down to 8.46 seconds at 162 mph.
THE 1968 FORD MUSTANG BULLITT IS STILL THE MOST ‘POWERFUL’ CLASSIC CAR
The Silver Bullet 2.0 build started with a benchmark run with the 5.0-liter, 10-speed automatic GT in factory condition, which Steeda did in 12.56 seconds at 114 mph. Then it went to work.
It pulled out the rear seat, added Corbeau racing seats and put on Steeda wheels with skinny front-runners and Mickey Thompson drag radial tires.
A carbon trap delete, long tube headers and a carbon fiber driveshaft were the only powertrain modifications, with most of the work going to the chassis.
There, it made 17 changes that included new shocks and shock mounts, camber plates, braces, a front K-Member and lightweight Baer drag brakes.
The result was a boost in horsepower measured at the rear wheels form 394 hp to 430 hp and an 11.22 second pass at 125 mph.
The company plans to further develop the car, using it as a testbed for future products.
