The Honda Passport TrailSport has toughened up.

After launching as a mostly cosmetic “rugged” model in 2022, the Passport TrailSport is getting some legitimate upgrades for 2024.

The two-row midsize SUV now features a new suspension with off-road-tuned springs, dampers and stabilizer bars, plus a set of General Grabber A/Tx tires on 18-inch wheels.

Honda is offering underbody protection plates as accessories for going even farther off the beaten path.

All Passports feature a new, larger center console, but carry over most of their important bits, including standard all-wheel-drive and a 280 hp 3.5-liter V6. Unlike the latest Honda Pilot, it is not an all-new vehicle.

As a polar opposite to the TrailSport, Honda has also added a street-smart Black Edition at the top of the lineup that features black trim and 20-inch wheels and a black leather interior with red stitching.

Along with Crystal Black Pearl paint, it will also be available in Sonic Gray, Platinum White and Radiant Red.
