Jumpy: GM Now Selling Multimatic DSSV Suspension Upgrade Kit For Its Full-Size Trucks
One of the best ideas in performance vehicle history was when General Motors decided to put Multimatic’s DSSV shocks in a truck.
The dampers, which were originally used on IndyCars and F1 cars, use precisely-tuned spool valves instead of shims to control the flow of fluid within them.
GM first introduced them on the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, which made sense, but then did something crazy.
It had Multimatic design a set for the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 midsize pickup and tuned them to improve both the handling of the truck and it’s ability to soak up big bumps, and even jump.

No midsize truck could match it for high-speed off-road driving, and Chevy followed it up with a Silverado 1500 ZR2 with its own DSSVs, also offering them on the Sierra 1500 AT4X.
Now some Silverado and Sierra owners who didn’t originally buy a ZR2 can make their trucks a little more like one, GM Authority reported.
GM’s accessory catalog has a ZR2/AT4X Spec Front and Rear DSSV Shock System for $4,495 that includes front shock module assemblies, rear shocks, steel leaf springs and installation hardware.
It’s compatible with the Silverado Trail Boss, Sierra AT4 and trucks with the Performance 2-Inch Suspension Lift Kit option in either the 4WD Crew Cab Short Bed or Extended Cab Standard Bed SWB configurations.
Along with the improved performance, the suspension adds two inches of front and one inch of rear wheel travel. GM recommends professional installation and the parts are covered either the vehicle’s existing warranty or for 12 months/12,000 miles.
