17-Year-Old Jade Avedisian Becomes First Female National Midget Series Racing Champion With Xtreme Outlaw Midgets Title
California native Jade Avedisian made racing history this weekend by becoming the first female to win a national midget series racing national championship by claiming the Xtreme Outlaw Midgets title.
Avedisian wrapped up the historic feat at just 17 years old with a third-place finish in the 30-lap feature at I-44 Riverside Speedway in Oklahoma City on Oct. 14, adding to the five wins she picked up this season for Keith Kunz Motorsports.
“Dreams do come true,” Avedisian said in a social media post. “I can’t say enough about this whole Keith Kunz Motorsports team. The amount of hours and hard work they put into this sport is unreal.”
“Multiple times this year I didn’t think we were going to have a chance to win this championship but our passion and perseverance brought us back after being down 180 points.”
Avedisian finished the season with 5994 points, 59 ahead of runner-up Zach Daum.
She told American Cars And Racing that she’s still finalizing next year’s plans and will be announce them soon, but that her long-term goal is to make it to the NASCAR Cup Series.
