NASCAR Rescinds Ryan Blaney’s Las Vegas DQ, Restores Sixth Place Finish
Blaney is back in the hunt.
NASCAR has rescinded a post-race disqualification levied on Ryan Blaney after his car’s suspension was found to be outside regulations.
The penalty dropped him to 36th in the race and a distant eighth in the playoffs standings with two races to go in the round of eight, which pretty much put him in a must-win situation to advance to the final.
Upon further review, however, NASCAR discovered that there was a problem with the damper template used to measure Blaney’s shock and restored his original result.
2024 NASCAR CHICAGO STREET RACE STILL NOT CONFIRMED
“NASCAR has taken internal steps to remedy this issue moving forward,†the series said in a statement on the matter.
Blaney moves back to seventh in the standings just 17 points below the cutline, instead of 56, and six ahead of Chris Buescher, who drops back to eighth.
