Las Vegas was a bust for Ryan Blaney.

Shortly after notching a sixth-place finish in the South Point 400, Blaney’s Team Penske Ford Mustang was disqualified for failing a post-race inspection.

The left-front shock on Blaney’s car failed to meet specifications, according to NASCAR.

Changes to the suspension of a NASCAR Cup Series car can significantly affect its performance.

Blaney was listed with a 36th place finish, which dropped him to last place, 56 points below the cutoff line to qualify for the final in Phoenix.

“Proud of the effort, stinks having a pretty good day and leaving further away from the cutoff line than what we are,” Blaney told Fox Sports after the penalty was issued.
