Evel Knievel was best known for his death-defying motorcycle jumps, but he once had a very unusual ride to relax in on the road.

Bonhams is currently offering a 1972 Cadillac Eldorado Station Wagon that was owned for a while by the legendary American stunt man.

It wasn’t a factory offering, but a custom built by the American Sunroof Company. The outfit created many low-volume models in partnership with automakers over the years, and reportedly produced just eight cars like this Caddy.

The two-door features an extended wagon-style roofline, dramatic side windows, a flip-down tailgate and a roof rack on its mahogany vinyl top.

THE ‘WORLD’S MOST BEAUTIFUL TRUCK’ IS A 1940 FORD

It came powered by the Eldorado’s enormous 500 cubic-inch V8 driving the front wheels with 235 hp and is trimmed in red upholstery.

DOES THE CADILLAC CELESTIQ HAVE A FRUNK?

It was originally purchased in 1972 by PB Burnett, owner of the Burnett Produce Co. of Forest Park, Ga., and sold to Knievel in 1975, according to Bonhams. Knievel brought it to his home state of Montana, where his wife and son waited outside the local county hall starting at 3 a.m. in order to obtain the 1-1 license plate it still wears.

Knievel ended up selling it some time later and it was purchased from its previous owner’s estate about 28 years ago and shipped to England, where the auction is taking place.

It’s been stored in a wood shed since then and is very much a rust bucket under the hood, although the interior is in better shape.

It’s not currently in running condition, but all of the necessary parts to restore it are either still attached or included with it.
