Ford Greenlights $425,000 Electric 1967 Mustang Replica
The Ford Mustang Mach-E electric SUV is inspired by pony cars past, but there’s a battery-powered model that looks exactly like one of the classics.
Charge Cars launched the Charge ’67 a few years ago, which fuses the body of the 1967 Mustang with a modern all-electric platform.
The U.K.-based outfit has created a four-motor all-wheel-drive system rated at 536 hp and 1,120 lb-ft and uses a 63 kWh battery pack good for up to 200 miles of range.
Unlike the original, the Charge ’67 rides on a fully independent suspension and has a modern interior that blends retro design with a large infotainment system screen.
Up until now, the company bought its carbon fiber replica bodywork from an outside source, but now it can start building its own.

The company told Top Gear that it has received approval from Ford to manufacture officially licensed bodies in-house.

“We are thrilled to combine the luxury EV car expertise of Charge Cars with the heritage and engineering eminence of Ford to recreate an uncompromising, zero-emissions, classic icon,†Charge CEO and co-founder Vadim Shagaleev told Top Gear.
One thing that hasn’t changed is the price, which is £350,000, or around $425,000 at today’s exchange rate.
And that’s just for starters, as each of the 499 cars the company intends to build is customized to the buyer’s preferences.
