AEV Sierra Grande Pickup Is The Ultimate GMC Overland Rig
American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) is bringing something big to the SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
The off-road truck parts specialist has turned a two-door regular cab GMC Sierra HD pickup into an extreme overlanding rig.
AEV parters with GMC on the factory Sierra HD AT4X AEV Edition and borrowed some equipment from that truck for the AEV Sierra Grande Concept.
It features the steering knuckles, control arms and rear suspension from the AT4X, including its high performance Multimatic DSSV spool-valve dampers, and provides a 1.5-inch lift.

AEV also swaps over the steel front bumper and ads a prototype brush guard and integrated ComeUp 12,500-pound winch, plus a rear steel bumper with its own 9,500-pound winch.
An AEV snorkel provides clean intake air to the 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel V8, which drives 40-inch BFGoodrich tires mounted to AEV Salta XD wheels that can be aired up and down using an ARB On-Board air compressor built that’s been integrated into the truck.
Prototype fender flares wrap the tire and the factory bed is replaced with an 8-foot aluminum bed.
A steel bash plate and skid plates for front suspension and transfer case were designed to protect the underbody in harsh terrain, while auxiliary lights illuminate the way.

AEV hasn’t confirmed production plans or a potential price, but its similar Ram HD-based Prospector XL Tray Bed lists for $31,853 on top of the cost of the truck used to build it.
