Chevrolet Equinox EV Priced At $34,995 As Order Books Open — Here’s Why It’s Not $30G
The electric Chevrolet Equinox EV that was unveiled last year will miss two estimated targets when it goes on sale, for worse and better.
Chevy has confirmed that the starting price for the compact SUV will be $34,995, rather than “around” $30,000 when it was first announced.
That’s for the entry-level 1LT trim that will begin deliveries before the end of 2024, while the higher-spec 2RS launch model that will ship earlier in the year starts at $48,995 with front-wheel-drive and $52,395 with all-wheel-drive.
The front-wheel-drive, 210 horsepower 2RS has been certified with a driving range of 319 miles per charge, which is higher than the original 300-mile estimate. Chevrolet expects the 290 horsepower all-wheel-drive model to be rated near 280 miles.

The front-wheel-drive 1LT will also debut with a standard range of 319 miles, instead of the 250-mile estimate that was announced last year.
A Chevy spokesperson has confirmed with American Cars And Racing that is because it will not be offered with the smallest battery pack that was originally planned, which is also factors into the higher base price.
After discontinuing the current model this year, Chevrolet plans to introduce an all-new Bolt subcompact that will be sized and priced below the Equinox, although timing for it has not been released.
Additional LT trims will be added to the lineup down the road to fill that gap, and Chevy previously said there would be a 3RS at some point.
All Equinox EVs come with dual digital displays and the hands-free Super Cruise highway driving system will be offered on higher spec models.
Dealers will start taking orders in the first week of November, but the exact start of deliveries has not been announced.
The Equinox EV will be sold alongside the internal combustion engine Equinox, which is set to be replaced by an all-new model next year.
The ICE Equinox is GM’s best-selling model that is not a full-size pickup, but Chevrolet has not made any predictions on Equinox EV sales.
The Equinox EV is built on the same platform as the larger Blazer EV, which was named 2024 MotorTrend SUV of the year and began shipping to dealers in recent weeks in an all-wheel-drive 2LT trim that starts at $56,715 and all-wheel-drive RS for $60,215.
