Ford Performance has unveiled a new supercharger kit for the 2024 Mustang GT that unleashes its inner muscle car.

The package boosts the GT’s 5.0 liter V8 engine from 480 hp to “at least” 800 hp.

Ford Performance is debuting the kit at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas installed in a blue Mustang GT it calls the FP800S that was also customized with a Ford Performance lowering kit, a half-shaft upgrade, a Borla Extreme cat-back exhaust, 5.0-inch exhaust pipe tips, carbon fiber body accessories, Ford Performance bucket seats and a set of snazzy white Ford Performance wheels.

“The Ford Performance supercharger kit means more power and more excitement for Mustang owners,” product manager Michael Goodwin said.

It’s compatible with manual and automatic transmissions, is CARB certified and will come with a three-year/36,000 factory warranty — if it’s installed by a dealer or ASE-certified tech — when it launches next spring.

Ford Performance didn’t announce a price, but a 750 hp supercharger kit for the last-generation Mustang lists for $8,500. Whatever the new kit costs, it won’t be the only one.

Ford Performance said that a kit designed specifically for the 500 hp Mustang Dark Horse’s 5.0-liter V8 will be unveiled soon.

They will have some competition in the power department … from Ford.

Ford next year is launching a $300,000 Mustang GTD supercar with an 800 hp version of the supercharged 5.2-liter V8 from the last Mustang Shelby GT500.

Ford hasn’t yet confirmed one, but prototypes of what appear to be a Mustang Shelby GT500 have also been seen testing on public roads.

The last Shelby GT500 was rated at 760 hp, so it’s hard to imagine the new one will have less than that.
