See What’s Inside The 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger Extended-Range Electric Pickup

The 2025 RAM 1500 Ramcharger is like no truck the brand has built before.

The upcoming model is a range-extended electric vehicle, or series hybrid … tomato, tomato.

It combines a large battery pack with a V6 engine connected to a generator that can be used to provide electricity on long trips without having to stop and charge. Regardless of where the power is coming from, the wheels are driven by electric motors, rather than a mechanical connection with the V6.

The truck won’t be on sale until late next year, but Ram has revealed what it looks like under the skin, revealing all of its key elements.

RAM IS KILLING IT’S V8 ENGINES, BUT SAYS THAT’S GOOD NEWS

Up front, you can see the placement of the V6 where an internal combustion engine would typically be located, but here it is positioned to accommodate a 335 hp (250 kw) electric motor beneath it.

The inverter and power controls for the generator and battery can be seen behind it, on top of the 92 kWh battery pack, which has a black housing and is installed between the frame rails.

The key to its extended range capability is next in line: a 27-gallon fuel tank that feeds the V6 and can be refilled in far less time than it would take to stop and charge the battery. Will a full tank and charge, Ram says the Ramcharger has a range of 690 miles between stops.

Finally, there’s a 319 hp (238 kw) electric motor and associated gear that’s dedicated to powering the rear wheels, which are mounted to a fully-independent suspension system.

According to Ram, the total system output is 663 hp and it can accelerate the truck to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds.

It also has a maximum tow rating of 14,000 pounds and a payload capacity of 2,625 pounds, but Ram hasn’t said how the truck’s range is effected when loaded to either of those limits.
