The Tesla Cybertruck Can Tow 11,000 Pounds, Carry 2,500 Pounds And Is ‘Designed To Be The World’s Toughest Truck’

The production Tesla Cybertruck is set to be revealed in full on November 30th, but the details are starting to leak out.

Following an information leak to The Fast Lane EV last week, Cybertruck displays have started popping up in Tesla stores.

One seen in photos posted to the Cybertruck Owners Club fan website reveals a couple of its exact specifications.

The display accompanied at actual Cybertruck parked in the showroom of a San Diego location declares that it was “Designed to be the World’s Toughest Truck.”

It doesn’t say which Cybertruck model it is referring to — the epxected dual-motor or tri-motor version — but lists the towing capacity at 11,000 pounds and the payload capacity at 2,500 pounds.

The both beat the Ford F-150 Lighting’s maximum ratings of 11,000 pounds and 2,235 pounds, while the Rivian R1T can match the 11,000-pound tow rating, but tops out at 1,760 pounds of payload capacity.

The sign refers to an ultra-hard stainless steel exoskeleton and shatter-resistant glass, rather than calling it bulletproof as was originally suggested when the concept was first revealed in 2019.

Elon Musk says that the truck’s body has been tested against gunfire from a Thompson submachine gun, 9mm and .45 Magnum, but a shot-up test truck showed no evidence the guns targeted its glass.

The display also highlights an adaptive air suspension with on-road and off-road drive modes, but not the four-wheel-steering system that has been tested on prototypes, and a composite SMC (sheet molding compound) bed.

Tesla is holding a delivery event at its Austin, Tex., factory on November 30 that will be livestreamed and should include a full official rundown of the truck’s features and capabilities.
