Will The Production Tesla Cybertruck Have The Concept’s Coolest Feature? UPDATE: No

The Tesla Cybertruck is almost ready to roll.
Tesla is holding a delivery event for its first customers at its Austin, Texas, factory at 2 p.m. CT today.
Production spec versions of the pickup have been put on display at Tesla showrooms nationwide, offering a sneak peek at the stainless steel trucks.
However, aside from its stainless steel body, shatter-proof glass, air suspension, 11,000-pound tow rating and 2,500-pound payload capacity, Tesla hasn’t announced many details about its specifications or features.

One can glean a few things by looking at it, however, like the touchpads above the doors that release them and the buttons at the end of its driver’s side bed-rail that are used to open and close its roll-top tonneau cover and operate its power tailgate.

But when the Cybertruck concept was revealed, the tailgate was equipped with a ramp that pulled out of the top when open. Tesla demonstrated it by driving a “Cyberquad” ATV into the bed.

The ramp was hidden inside the leading edge of the tailgate and accessed by flipping open the trim on top.

The production truck has a slightly different design compared to the concept, but there is an indentation that creates a lip below the edge of the tailgate top. This could be there to make it easier to grab and lift the lid to expose the ramp.

In fact, videos of late-stage prototypes with open tailgates suggest there’s a sizable gap in the top, rather than a flush fit.
THE TESLA CYBERTRUCK WEBSITE HAS GONE DARK AHEAD OF LAUNCH
We’ve yet to see images of one with a ramp deployed, however, so we’ll have to wait until the official reveal to find out.
UPDATE: The Cybertruck’s designer has just posted an image of the truck’s chassis from the delivery event space that shows a different angle of the open tailgate and the fit of its cap:

UPDATE: The currently available versions of the Cybertruck are not equipped with a built-in ramp, however following the delivery event, Tesla launched a new accessories website that lists a fold-up ramp that can be stored in the storage compartment under the Cybertruck’s floor for $400.
