Does The Cybertruck Have Autopilot And Full Self-Driving?

(Tesla)

The Tesla Cybertruck is hitting the road with an unusual steering system.

The All-Wheel Drive and Cyberbeast models that are the first available are equipped with a steer-by-wire system that has no mechanical connection between the rectangular steering wheel and the steering racks.

That’s “racks” plural, because the Cybertruck features a four-wheel steering system.

This allows the ratio of the steering to be adjusted so that the wheel only needs to be turned half way in each direction for full steering.

When Tesla started offering the Model S and Model Y with a yoke-style wheel in 2021, with conventional steering action, part of the pitch was that it provided a better forward view and that the Full Self-Driving system would eventually make the wheel mostly redundant. That is if the system ever entirely lived up to its name. It hasn’t yet, but it would be perfectly matched to the Cybertruck’s setup if it ever does.

But does the Cybertruck even have the current version of Full Self-Driving or the more limited Autopilot?

Neither was mentioned during the Cybertruck reveal on November 30 and they can’t be found on the Cybertruck website, either.

Tesla doesn’t have a press office that responds to requests for information outside of a handful of favored outlets, so we took a different route to find out if the features are avaialble.

After 30 minutes on hold with the customer service line a representative answered and told us that the Cybertruck does come with Autopilot standard and can be upgraded to Full Self-Driving.

According to the rep, the price for Full Self-Driving is the same as it is on all of the other Tesla models. That’s $12,000 to buy in full or $199 per month on a subscription.

The All-Wheel Drive Cybertruck lists for $79,990, not including destination fees, and the Cyberbeast for $99,990.
