Honda debuted its Afeela electric car company collaboration with Sony at CES 2023, but will be taking center stage for itself in Las Vegas next January.

The automaker has announced that it will debut several electric models at the event on January 9, along with new vehicle technologies.

Honda plans to introduce 30 EVs by 2030, at which point it expects to be selling two million around the world each year.

Honda will launch the new Prologue and Acura ZDX electric compact SUVs using GM’s Ultium platform in the U.S. next year, but will develop future EVs in house.

A teaser image of what’s coming to CES indicates it will far more dramatic than the relatively conventional Prologue and ZDX. The image shows the front of a vehicle with a sloping hood that continues into the windshield, similar to how the Tesla Cybertruck is designed.

It also appears to have elaborately designed, relatively oversized wheels that make it look very much like a concept, rather than a final production model.

At the Japan Mobility Show in September, Honda released a different image that depicted two “electrified” sports cars under wraps.

Neither looks like the CES teaser, so it’s not known if they will be a part of January’s event.
