Godzilla has a sequel … and not just in theaters.

Three years after word that a “super-secret” crate engine project was in the works, Ford has launched a more powerful version of its 7.3-liter Godzilla V8.

The Godzilla motor is available in the production F-Series Super Duty and is also offered a la crate for custom and race car builds.

It’s now priced at $8,500 and is rated at 430 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque out of the box.

Ford first mentioned it was working on a follow-up called the Megazilla in 2020 and has now listed it in the Ford Performance catalog.

It’s been designed to fit in cars, not just trucks, and features a bellhousing with the same bolt pattern as the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 and Ford’s 4.6/5.4-liter V8s to make for an easy swap.

New heads, throttle body, connecting rods and other modifications help increase the naturally aspirated engine’s output to 615 hp and 638 lb-ft.

The list price is a big jump from Godzilla’s at $22,995 and control packs to make it compatible with manual and Ford Super Duty 10-speed automatic transmissions are $2,650 and $2,750. There’s also a $265 starter and $760 front end auxiliary drive kit.

As with most crate engines, the Megazilla is listed for competition and off-highway use only from the factory and any street legalization is up to the builder to sort out.
