The Chevy Camaro Is Dead, But You Can Still Buy A New One For Over $145,000
Chevrolet Camaro production officially ended on December 14.
Chevy is putting the model name out to pasture for the second time since its 1967 launch and isn’t saying when it will be coming back, if it ever does at all.
But there’s still time to get your hands on a new one if you act fast.
According to Cars.com, more than 3,500 Camaros are sitting on dealer lots or in transit to showrooms at prices starting as low as $27,995 for a base V6. However, one special one costs a bit more than that.
Jake Sweeney Chevrolet in Cincinnati is currently listing a limited release Garage 56 Edition model. Chevy only built 56 of the cars, which celebrate the Camaro’s entry in this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Chevy entered a modified NASCAR Cup Series car as en exhibition through the Garage 56 program that’s meant to showcase new technologies.
The production Camaro wears a graphics package based on the race car’s livery, but the only special mechanical upgrades are a set of dive-planes at the nose and a wicker bill spoiler.
THE CHEVROLET CAMARO IS DEAD, SO WHAT WILL REPLACE IT?
The ZL1 is powered by a 650 hp supercharged 6.2-liter V8 and has a standard magnetic ride control suspension system, Brembo brakes and summer performance tires on 20-inch wheels. It had a base price of $75,395 and the Garage 56 Edition package was an $11,995 option for a total of $87,390 including delivery and a gas guzzler tax.
Unfortunately for interested customers, Jake Sweeney Chevrolet has added a “Garage 56 market adjustment” of $56,000 to its manual transmission-equipped car along with a few other options that brings the final price to $145,185.
The Garage 56 cars haven’t found their way onto the auction circuit yet, so it’s hard to judge exactly what their market value currently is, or to predict what it will be down the road.

Another Garage 56 car is listed on Cars.com for $89,185, but the dealer has confirmed to American Cars And Racing that it has already been sold.
The $145,185 car may actually be a deal compared to another that’s available.
Along with the Garage 56 Edition, Chevrolet also offered a Collector Edition package for several Camaro models this year, including the ZL1.
It’s another appearance package that includes a unique Panther Black Matte paint and various logos that was priced at $88,690 for the ZL1, which was limited to 350 cars.

Epic Chevrolet in Sacramento, Calif., is advertising a convertible ZL1 that’s optioned to $98,385 on the window sticker with a $50,000 markup for a buy it now price of $148,385.
