The First Electric Scout Will Be Revealed This Summer
Summer is a great time for Scouts.
The Scout brand is being rebooted by Volkswagen as an electric SUV and truck company that will compete with the likes of Rivian, Jeep and Range Rover.
VW controls the rights to the the Scout name and its intellectual property through its ownership of Navistar, which inherited it from International Harvester.
Scout Motors is developing its vehicles with help from contract manufacturer and engineering firm Magna Steyr, which currently builds the Mercedes G-Class and Fisker Ocean and has designed its own electric vehicle architecture.

Aside from a couple of teaser images that depict SUVs and pickups with styling inspired by the classic Scout models that were sold from 1961 to 1980, no details have been shared.

However, the company has now released a promotional video on YouTube that confirms the first concept vehicles will be fully revealed sometime this summer.
The vehicles will be manufactured at a new factory being built in South Carolina, but sales aren’t expected to begin until 2026.

Scout appears to be planning for a large lineup, as it has trademarked several potential model names including Travelstar, Trailstar, Thresher, Scout Hauler and Scout Reaper.
