Why buy and old car when you can buy a new car that looks old?
Utah’s Hi-Tech Legends is now selling a brand-new 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 rolling chassis licensed by Shelby American.
With a few upgrades.
The chassis has been engineered to accommodate a modern powertrain and features a fully independent suspension system.

“Our aim is to remove the inconsistencies that are typically characteristic of a restomod build,” Hi-Tech director Nick Price said.
“Our modernized 1967 Shelby GT500 is not a restored original but rather a modern-day reproduction of that vehicle built brand new from the ground up in a factory-controlled environment, a term which we have coined a ’REPROmod’.â€
The body, which is built by Hi-Tech Automotive in South Africa, is a mix of steel and composite panels and the interior trimmed in Nappa leather and Alcantara.

“After more than eight years in development, our team of engineers really took their time in getting this one right,” Price said.
“Be assured, after more than 30 years in this industry, this is by far the most advanced product to ever come out of our factory. This truly is an exceptional vehicle.â€
Hi-Tech says the latest Ford 5.0-liter V8 or supercharged 5.2-liter V8 with a six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission fit perfectly, but that other powertrains can be used.

Pricing for the chassis starts at $214,500 and the company estimates that completing the build will run the customer around $270,000.

That’s about the same as what an original 1967 GT500 in show car quality condition is currently worth, according to Hagerty.
