The Ford F-Series Outsold All Of Tesla In The U.S. Last Year
The Ford F-Series has been the best-selling vehicle in the U.S. for 42 years.
It’s also one of the most valuable consumer products, typically second only to the Apple iPhone, generating roughly $40 billion in revenue for Ford.
That’s enough to make it a Fortune 100 company if it were spun off on its own.
And it doesn’t just outsell other models. It outsells entire brands.

Ford delivered 750,789 last year. Only seven automakers had combined sales higher than that, including Ford and Lincoln together.
The Nissan-Mitsubishi group was the last of those at 986,136, according to the latest data from Cox Automotive.

Tesla was next on the list with 654,888 deliveries of the Model S, Model X, Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck.
Tesla hasn’t said how many Cybertrucks it delivered in the weeks after its Nov. 28 debut, but Ford’s 24,165 F-150 Lightning deliveries were enough for it to claim the best-selling full-size electric pickup title.

Of course, GM has an even bigger full-size truck business than Ford if you add up Chevrolet and GMC sales. The Silverado and Sierra light and heavy duty trucks accounting for 850,885 deliveries last year.
Some other big brands that can’t compete with the pickups are Volkswagen (632,994), Subaru (632,083) and BMW (385,927).

Tesla’s did build more than twice as many cars globally than Ford did F-Series trucks, however. The totals being 1,845,985 and 920,655, respectively.
Tesla’s U.S. sales were also up 25.4% last year and that kind of growth would put it ahead of where the F-Series ended up this time around.
