The writing was on the wall.

After the Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger and Ram 1500 V8-powered models were discontinued last year, it was only a matter of time before the Dodge Durango followed suit.

Dodge has now officially announced that this will be the last year of production for the current Durango generation and the model’s Hemi and Hellcat V8 versions.

As it did with the Challenger and Charger, Dodge will be releasing a series of limited edition ‘Last Call’ Durangos to celebrate the midsize SUV’s 15-year run.

The first is called the AlcHEMI, which comes with the 475 hp 392 cubic-inch Hemi V8. It’s a $3,595 option for the Durango SRT 392 Premium trim that features 20-inch satin black wheels, yellow Brembo brake caliper covers, special yellow-accented stripes and logos, black exhaust tips, yellow stitching and 392 logos embroidered in the seats, a leather and suede-wrapped steering wheel and carbon fiber interior inserts. Only 1,000 AlcHEMI Durangos will be offered with a starting price of $91,390 including delivery.

Dodge hasn’t confirmed how many ‘Last Call’ Durangos will be released, but they will include both 392 V8 and 710 hp Hellcat V8 models.

THE LAST AMERICAN COP ‘CAR’ HAS BEEN RETIRED

Deliveries of the AlcHEMI are scheduled to begin in April. It is a 2024 model, but Durangos built later in the year will be 2025 model year vehicles.

Dodge has not yet said what will replace the Durango, which is built on a platform shared with the last-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee. The latest Grand Cherokee rides on an all-new architecture, but Dodge has not indicated if the Durango successor will use it.

Dodge’s next new model will be an all-electric car based on the Charger Daytona SRT Concept, which is built on a platform that can accommodate either an electric or internal combustion engine powertrain and could potentially be used for a crossover SUV.
