Tucker 48 Sold At Mecum Auction For $1.87 Million
This Tucker took the money.
A 1948 Tucker 48 was sold at the Mecum Auctions Kissimmee, Fla., event on Saturday for $1.87 million including fees.
Just 51 of the cars were built before the ill-fated Tucker went out of business and this example is one only four that were delivered from the factory with black paint.
The American classic is mostly original, but was repainted for use in the 1988 biopic “Tucker, The Man and His Dream,†starring Jeff Bridges.

Serial number 0021, the car is equipped with the Cord-based Tucker Y-1 four-speed manual transmission option.
The price paid was at the high end of its pre-auction estimate of $1.7-$1.9 million.
