It’s a rare breed.

A Ford Bronco DR has been listed for sale on the Bring A Trailer auto auction website.

Ford sold just 50 of the turnkey race trucks at a starting price of $295,000. They were built by Multimatic, the same Canadian outfit behind the Ford GT supercar, the upcoming Ford Mustang GTD and many of the Ford Performance off-road and sports car racing efforts.

The Bronco DR is equipped with a 400 hp V8 with a rear-mounted radiator, 10-speed automatic transmission and a long-travel suspension featuring Multimatic’s signature DSSV shock absorbers, which are equipped with finned cooling elements for extreme competition duty.

Although it is based on the production four-door Bronco chassis, the 6,200-pound truck features a safety cage, fiberglass bodywork, Sparco racing seats and a 65-gallon fuel tank. Its approach, departure and breakover angles measure 47 degrees, 37 degrees and 33 degrees, respectively.

“It’s not just a Bronco with some stripes on it,” Paul Wraith, Bronco chief designer, said when the project was first announced in 2021.

“We were inspired by extreme rally cars, and then went all in. For this skunk works project, the Bronco team quickly found a theme and developed CAD with heavy use of virtual tools. This is an off-road racing vehicle built out of a production vehicle.”

The truck on Bring A Trailer is brand new, painted in Ford’s unique Mystichrome color and listed as chassis number 13. It is not street legal.

It’s being offered by a dealer in Eureka, Ill. Bidding had reached $188,000 when this story was posted with seven days left before the digital hammer comes down.
