Ram will be releasing the electric Ram 1500 REV and plug-in hybrid Ram 1500 Ramcharger pickups later this year, but it’s also adding a battery-powered van to its lineup called the ProMaster EV, with the EV meaning Electric Van in this instance.

The ProMaster EV unveiled on Tuesday is launching in a high-roof delivery model with a 110 kilowatt-hour battery pack good for an estimated 162 miles of city range.

The front-wheel-drive van features a standard 268 hp motor rated at 302 lb-ft of torque.

It’s built on a modified version of the internal combustion engine-powered ProMaster.

“Ram’s first available electric vehicle is a game-changer, offering commercial customers, large and small, the ultimate van in zero-emissions performance, commercial capability and advanced technology.”

The ProMaster EV will compete against the Ford E-Transit, which is already on sale in configurations with up to 126 miles of range and GM’s BrightDrop Zevo that has up to 250 miles of range.

Ford delivered 7,672 E-Transits in 2023 and BrightDrop 497 Zevos. Conventional Ram ProMaster sales increased 34% to 81,663 units last year.

The order book is now open for a ProMaster EV delivery model $77,995 with standard pocket door, rear roll-up door and 524 cubic feet of cargo space that will start shipping in the first half of 2024. The model qualifies for the full $7,500 federal commercial electric vehicle tax credit.
