It’s the world’s most exclusive book club.

Jimmie Johnson started a tradition in 2011 where the outgoing NASCAR Cup Series champion would write a message to the new one in a journal that would be handed down each time a new one was crowned.

It’s like the mythical U.S. President’s “Book of Secrets,” the existence of which the Library of Congress has officially denied. However, outgoing presidents are known to leave individual notes for their successors.

“It’s hard to believe something like this journal wasn’t done before. I thought it would be a great tradition to start between champions, and I’m honored to be the first entry,” Johnson wrote on the first page, which is the only one that has been revealed to the public.

“My thought is the outbound champion writes a letter to the inbound champion. From there, the champ keeps the book until the NASCAR awards ceremony and then passes it along.”

The first transfer was from Johnson to Tony Stewart, and no one besides the 10 men who have raised the NASCAR Cup Series trophy since the journal was created knows what each said to the next. Until now.

2022 NASCAR Cup Series champion Joey Logano recently sat down with American Cars And Racing to talk about the 2024 season and the updated Ford Mustang Dark Horse he and 2023 champion Ryan Blaney will be driving for Team Penske.

Logano has had his hands on the book twice. He previously wrote to Joe Gibbs Racing rival Kyle Busch, but this time used the opportunity to take a friendly jab at his teammate, along with some thoughts that will remain between them … until someone else takes home the title.

You can find out what Logano said to Blaney in our video interview on YouTube.
