Acura’s first electric car will be shipping to dealers soon.

Deliveries of the 2024 ZDX are scheduled to begin this spring.

The midsize SUV is built on the General Motors Ultium electric vehicle platform that’s shared with the Chevrolet Blazer EV, Cadillac Lyriq and Honda Prologue, which will be launching around the same time as the ZDX.

The ZDX will be offered in rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive trims rated at 340 hp and 500 hp, respectively. Those powertrain configurations match up precisely with the Lyriq’s.

The entry-level A-Spec RWD will have a starting price of $64,500, not counting delivery fees, making the ZDX the most expensive model in Acura’s lineup. The all-wheel-drive A-Spec starts at $68,500 while the sportier all-wheel-drive Type S is $73,500 and $74,500 with a performance wheel and tire package. The Type S is also equipped with an adaptive air suspension system and high performance Brembo brake package.

All ZDXs come with a 102 kWh battery pack that can be charged at speeds up to 190 kW, which is capable of getting 81 miles worth of electricity in the first 10 minutes. The estimated ranges on a full charge are 325 miles for an A-Spec RWD, 315 for an A-Spec AWD and 288 for the Type S, although the final figures have not been announced.

The ZDX will also be offered with the AcuraWatchâ„¢ 360+ hands-free highway driving system, which is a rebranding of GM’s SuperCruise. It can provide lane-centering adaptive cruise control and automated passing of slower vehicles on over 400,000 miles of roads in the U.S. and Canada.

The ZDX and Prologue will be the first and last vehicles built in collaboration with General Motors. Honda has announced plans to launch its own electric vehicle platform, which was previewed at CES with the dramatic Honda 0 Series Saloon that provides a sneak peek at a model that will be on sale in 2026.

Acura has not yet announced where the ZDX is being manufactured, but information released during last year’s UAW negotiations with GM suggest it will be assembled alongside the Lyriq in Spring Hill, Tenn.

Meanwhile, photos of a Prologue recently posted to social media by a worker at GM’s Ramos Arizpe factory in Mexico, where the Blazer EV is built, all but confirm that model will come from there.

The Blazer EV and Lyriq recently lost their eligibility for the $7,500 federal tax credit due to changes in the sourcing requirements for the program, but GM expects to have the issue sorted out soon.

An Acura spokesman told American Cars And Racing that the company expects the ZDX “will ultimately qualify for the tax credit,” and that it will “adopt customer-focused measures in our sales efforts” in the meantime.

GM this month began offering a $7,500 discount on the Blazer EV and Lyriq to make up for the loss of the credit, which can still be applied toward leases.
