The Blackwing isn’t landing anytime soon.

Cadillac has unveiled the updated 2025 CT5-V Blackwing and CT5-V sport sedans, essentially ensuring the internal combustion engine models will be on sale for years to come, even as the brand starts going electric.

Cadillac will have at least five all-electric vehicles on sale by 2026, but it hasn’t started cutting its ICE models just yet.

The entire CT5 lineup has been updated, with the Blackwing and CT5-V the final trims to make their debuts.

Both feature new headlights and front fascias, but the bigger change is inside where they get new dashboards with the 33-inch digital display that’s being incorporated into many of Cadillac’s models. It comprises the instrument cluster and infotainment system.

Powertrains carry over from the current cars. The CT5-V features a 360 hp turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission, while the Blackwing gets a 668 hp supercharged 6.2-liter V8 with either a 10-speed automatic or six-speed manual.

The stick shift Blackwing is the only V8-powered sedan on sale in the U.S. that’s sill available with a manual transmission.

The CT5-V is available with all-wheel-drive, but the Blackwing is only offered with rear-wheel-drive. Both ride on computer-controlled suspension systems and have GM’s Performance Traction Management system.

The Blackwing is also equipped with launch control and a line-lock that makes it easier to do a standing burnout to warm up the tires before a run down a drag strip and Brembo brakes to bring it back down from speed at the end of one.

A next-generation Performance Data Record has been loaded into the infotainment system that includes a lap analyzer and track-specific speed tips with video playback. Apple CarPlay is no-longer offered, as GM begins moving away from the popular smartphone integration in favor of Google built-in.

Cadillac’s hands-free Super Cruise highway driving assistant is standard on both models and comes with a three-year subscription included. It wasn’t previously offered on the Blackwing and is still not with the six-speed manual transmission.
