The Tesla Cybertruck’s stainless steel body may be able to take a whack without denting, but that doesn’t mean the electric pickup is immune to “Hammers.”
Tesla custom parts company Unplugged Performance brought a Cybertruck to Johnson Valley, Calif., last week to check out the King of the Hammers off-road race and put the truck through its paces in the rough terrain.
The pickup had been modified with carbon fiber fender flares, quick-disconnect sway bar end links and a set of 20-inch Unplugged Performance beadlock wheels fitted with Yokohama X-AT Tires.
The team ran it hard for a couple of days, but eventually found a weak spot.

A factory bolt used for the rear-wheel steering system’s tie rod broke and the wheel assembly fell off.
Unplugged Performance will use the experience to hone the Invincible line of off-road products it is developing for the vehicle, which will include wheels, body parts, rock rails and steel bumpers.
