IndyCar Moving Season Finale To Nashville Superspeedway
IndyCar is going back to the oval track.
The organizers of the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix that’s been held on the temporary downtown Nashville Street Circuit since 2021 is being moved to the Nashville Superspeedway in nearby Lebanon this year.
The September 15 race is set to be the 2024 IndyCar season finale.
The street circuit is based around the area of the Tennessee Titans stadium where construction for a new stadium is kicking off this year.

Organizers said that even if they modified the layout of the track, the work would cause issues for teams, fans and the neighborhood that couldn’t be surmounted this year. The NFL has also not yet confirmed that there won’t be a Titans game scheduled for the stadium on race weekend.
IndyCar previously raced on the D-Shaped 1.333-mile oval from 2001 through 2008 and the NASCAR Cup Series will be there this year on June 30.
Scott Dixon won the last three IndyCar races held on the track.
“I have some fond memories of Nashville Superspeedway. The racing was always
intense and strategy was always key,” Dixon said in a press release. “Add the fact that it’s now hosting the season finale and I have no doubt it will make for a fantastic show.”
2004 race winner Tony Kanan, who is now the sporting director for Arrow McLaren added, “I’m so excited that the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix is relocating to the Nashville Superspeedway. We always need more ovals. I’m very fond of my win there— it’s the coolest trophy I own!â€
The winner of the previous editions of the race received a custom Gibson Les Paul guitar.
Nashville isn’t the only old oval coming back to IndyCar this year as it will be preceded by a double-header at the Milwaukee Mile on the weekend of Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.
