Gus Dean Wins ARCA 200 At Daytona In Overtime Finish

Gus Dean won the ARCA 200 at Daytona early Saturday morning in an overtime shootout that ended under yellow due to a major wreck behind him.

It was similar to the finish of the NASCAR Truck Series race that took place on Friday night, where Nick Sanchez won in front of a last lap wreck in overtime.

The ARCA race was moved from its scheduled Saturday afternoon start time to Friday night after the Truck Series race due to rain forecast for Daytona on Saturday.

Dean’s win was his third in the series and the 100th for his team Venturini Motorsports.

He dedicated it to his grandfather, who he said never missed one of his races until he died earlier this year.

“For a small town kid from Bluffton, North Carolina, this is everything,” Dean said during his post-race interview on FS2.

Marco Andretti, who was making his first start on the Daytona oval, crashed out of the race with four laps to go when damage suffered during an earlier accident led to a component failure.
