Ford F-150 Lightning Shipments Stopped On February 9 — Here’s Why
Ford has revealed that it paused shipments of the F-150 Lightning on February 9, even as production of the electric pickup has continued.
The automaker told Reuters the stoppage was so that it could perform quality checks, but it did not single out any particular issues behind the move.
Ford last year announced that it was cutting planned production of the model by half for 2024, due to softer than expected demand.
The factory that builds it will go down to one shift, starting on April 1, according to Reuters. Ford did not say when deliveries will resume.

Meanwhile, shipments of the internal combustion engine and hybrid versions of the redesigned 2024 F-150 are finally underway. The trucks went into production in December, but were being held for similar quality checks. Ford CEO Jim Farley last week told the Wolfe Conference that the automaker is targeting Toyota Tundra levels of quality for the F-150.
