And you thought your NASCAR die cast was cool.

Hendrick Motorsports has created a custom Chevrolet Camaro to commemorate the team’s 40th anniversary in the NASCAR Cup Series.

The year is already off to a great start with Hendrick drivers William Byron and Alex Bowman finishing first and second in the Daytona 500 on the same date as Hendrick’s first Cup Series race in 1984.

The Camaro went out of production last December, but Hendrick got its hands on 40 Radiant Red Tintcoat Camaro SS coupes equipped with the 1LE Track Performance Package and added a few of its own touches.

Puddle lights with the 40th anniversary logo have also been added and the car wears a hood stripe with a black and grey American flag motif inspired by the one that was featured on the Garage 56 Camaro race car that Hendrick entered in the 24 Hours of Le Mans last year.

The SS 1LE includes a 455 hp 6.2-liter V8, summer performance tires, six-piston Brembo brakes, a Magnetic Ride Control suspension system, plus a unique spoiler and splitter.

Hendrick is giving one away through a sweepstakes backed in part by its NASCAR team sponsor Ally and will be selling the other 39 cars through Hendrick Automotive Group Chevy dealers.

WHAT WILL REPLACE THE CHEVROLET CAMARO IN NASCAR?

The exact price hasn’t yet been announced, but the contest rules value the prize at $75,000. All of the cars come with a free tour of the Hendrick Motorsports team shop in Charlotte, N.C.

The cars are almost certain to be collector’s items. Chevrolet last year built 56 Garage 56 Edition Camaro ZL1s with liveries similar to the race car’s that had a list price of $87,495, but one was recently sold at auction for $260,000.
