The Rivian R2 Will Go 0-60 MPH In 3 Secs, 330 Miles Per Charge And Cost $47,500, Report Says

One electric vehicle down, one to go.

The electric Dodge Charger Daytona muscle car had the spotlight on Tuesday for its reveal, but Thursday will belong to Rivian.

The battery-powered pickup and SUV brand is set to take the wraps off its next model, the R2.

The company has only released a couple of teaser images showing it to be an SUV and said that it will be smaller and more affordable than the current R1T pickup and R1S SUV, which are midsize models that start around $70,000 and $75,000, respectively.

The rest will be shared at 1 p.m. ET on March 7, but the information may already be out there.

Self-proclaimed Rivian owner and tech enthusiast Chris Hilbert was able to find the unpublished specifications on Rivian’s website using Web Inspector.

According to Hilbert’s info, pricing for the Georgia-built vehicle will start at $47,500, which means buyers who qualify for the federal tax credit on EVs will be able to get one for $40,000.

It’s also listed with a maximum range of 330 miles per charge and a 0-60 mph acceleration time of three seconds.

It’s about the same length as a Tesla Model Y, but only seats 5 and offers up to 9.8 inches of ground clearance, which suggests it will have serious off-road capability.

It’s not clear from the info if these specs apply to the same trim, or are cherrypicked from across several configurations.

Along with the expected SUV, which will likely be called the R2S, Rivian has filed trademarks on R2T and R2X, which could be for a future pickup and extreme off-road model.

Rivian has not commented on the leaked information, but will have plenty to share during the launch event, but the R2 won’t be on sale until 2026.
