Cadillac is going electric … very quickly.

GM’s luxury marque has already confirmed five electric models as it works toward becoming a zero-emissions brand by 2030.

It is now stepping things up a notch with the release of a teaser for an electric sports car concept.

It’s called Opulent Velocity, which is apparently a self-explanatory name.

Only a few cropped and blurry images have been revealed that suggest it will be very sleek, but don’t show its shape or size in full.

More intriguing is a sound clip included in a video that offers a taste of its “exhaust” note.

Cadillac didn’t explain it, but it appears to combine a synthesized internal combustion engine note with the futuristic whirr of an electric powertrain.

“Opulent Velocity is designed to foreshadow a zero emissions expression of performance and modern luxury leadership,” Cadillac design boss Bryan Nesbitt said in a press release.

“We will share more later this year, so stay tuned.”

THIS IS WHY THERE’S A ‘1000’ ON THE CADILLAC ESCALADE IQ’S TAIL

Cadillac pegged the announcement to the ongoing 20th anniversary celebration of its V-Series performance lineup, which is today comprised of turbocharged and supercharged models.

The brand’s last dedicated sports car, rather than a performance version of one of its mainstream lineups, was the Corvette-based XLR of 2004 to 2009.

Cadillac currently competes in the IMSA and WEC sports car series with the V-Series.R hybrid coupe.
