A Dodge Challenger Demon 170 Just Sold For $225,500 Because Someone’s Gotta Have That V8
Dodge is moving on from its V8-powered era, but not all of its fans are ready to follow.
In the wake of the reveal of the Dodge Charger Daytona electric muscle car — which will launch with a 670 hp model this summer and be followed by a more powerful Banshee trim and a lineup of turbocharged straight-six-cylinder Chargers next year — someone just paid $225,500 for a Challenger Demon 170.
The loaded Sublime Green example of the 900 hp supercharged V8-powered coupe that crossed the block at the Mecum Auctions event in Glendale, Ariz.. last week originally listed for $142,831.
The car had also been marked up by the dealer with a “market adjustment” of $107,169 to bring its total sticker price to $250,000, as displayed on the car.
THE DODGE CHARGER POLICE CAR MAY RETURN
The consigner is anonymous, so it’s not known how much it had previously been sold for, but the price it commanded at the auction was still nearly $83,000 above its MSRP.

The car had just 16 miles on its odometer, most of the protective packaging material still intact and the buyer got the two-day SRT Drag Racing Class at Radford Racing School that was included with Demon 170 purchases.
Several Demon 170s have broken through the $200,000 barrier in recent weeks, including one that was sold for $240,000 on Bring A Trailer in December, indicating a strong demand for what will likely go down in history as the most-powerful V8 muscle car ever made.
Dodge has yet to announce pricing for the first two Charger Daytona coupe models that will be on sale this summer, which are the 496 hp R/T and 670 hp Scat Pack.

The six-cylinder “SIXPACK” Charger will arrive in early 2025 with the choice of a 420 hp or 550 hp version of the 3.0-liter engine, which Dodge is developing as a racing motor with an estimated 1,000 hp output.
