The 2025 Lincoln Nautilus Is The Latest ‘American’ Car From China
The fully-redesigned 2025 Lincoln Nautilus is in dealers now and brings with it a couple of firsts for the brand.
The midsize SUV is equipped with a 48-inch digital display that spans the top of the dashboard from roof pillar to roof pillar, the largest Lincoln or Ford has ever offered.
The infotainment system it controls is equipped with Google Assistant, Alexa and compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration.
The screens are also highly configurable, allowing the driver to set up the desktop to their preferences.

It’s a high-tech feature in a car built in a country known for its tech products.
Not the U.S., or Canada, where the previous-generation Nautilus was assembled, but China.
That’s where the Nautilus is manufactured by the Changan Ford joint venture, which produces a full range of Ford and Lincoln models primarily for sale in China.
THE LINCOLN CORSAIR IS (TECHNICALLY) THE MOST-AMERICAN LUXURY CAR:
This marks the first time Ford has exported a China-made model to the U.S., despite the heavy 27.5% import tariff that’s levied on vehicles that come from the country.
The starting price is $52,010, up from $46,220 for the 2023 model, and the Nautilus is offered with the choice of either a 250 hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine or a 310 hp hybrid powertrain based around the same engine, both with standard all-wheel-drive.
The Nautilus isn’t the only China-made model currently available from an American brand, however.
The Buick Envision has been imported from China since the first generation went on sale in the U.S. in 2016. That was before the tariff went into effect, but Buick has soldiered through and introduced an updated version in 2021, courtesy of its SAIC-GM joint venture.

The mid-level luxury compact SUV is competitively priced in its segment at $34,745 and was Buick’s second-best seller in 2023, behind the smaller and more affordable Encore GX, with 44,281 sold.
GM previously sold the China-made CT6 Plug-In hybrid in the U.S. during the 2017 and 2018 model years, but it was discontinued.
The automaker recently announced plans to reintroduce plug-in hybrid technology, which is widely used in its Chinese market models, into its U.S. lineup, but hasn’t yet announced any models, or where they will be made.
