The Ford Mustang reclaimed the title of America’s best-selling sports car last year and has accumulated the most sales around the world over the past decade.
Ford has confirmed that it delivered more than 59,000 Mustangs to customers globally in 2023.
The automaker delivered 48,605 of them in the U.S. to beat the Dodge Challenger’s total of 44,960 in its final year of production. The Challenger had been the top two-door sports car in the U.S. the prior two years.
Ford timed the announcement to the start of the Mustang’s 60th anniversary celebrations, which kicks off a the New York International Auto Show.

The first Mustang officially debuted on April 17, 1964 at the New York World’s Fair, and a Mustang fan event will be held that day this year at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Ford unveiled a couple of teaser images from a 60th Anniversary Appearance Package that will debut in full at the Charlotte event, including a commemorative badge that was inspired by designs from the World’s Fair car.
Ford is also releasing a feature for the 2024 Mustang’s digital displays that will go live via a software update on April 17.
